Praying for Peace

First a short medical update.  After vision issues in July, August started with nausea and stomach pain, no ER visit this time but I did lose about 15 lbs over the 2 weeks. I’m much better now and regained most of that weight loss.mostly because ice cream is a superfood.  I go back to the ALS clinic on September 9 for my 4 month checkup and will have more health news to share with you then. 

Regarding Praying for Peace, this is me shamelessly begging that you give one hour of your time (plus the drive) to participate locally in a worldwide prayer event that goes from Sept 6-13.  The San Antonio Catholic Worker is hosting a 24/7 prayer room and asking for people to help keep up this vigil for a whole week.  People of all faith traditions, as well as non-believers, are welcome.

 With almost 500 prayer rooms across the US, if you don’t live in or around San Antonio, there might be a prayer room near you to attend for a 1 hour time slot.   Text me if you have questions about this.

If you can’t make it to a 1 hours session, there will be an opening event and mass at 11am on Sunday the 6th and a closing ceremony at 11am on the 13th.  Food will be served at both of these Sunday celebrations.  All are welcome to just show up.

If you do signup and would like for me to join you for your session here in SA, I would love that and will do my best to join you as long as your hour is not on the 3rd shift between 8pm to 8am.  

One last thing, the primary mission of SA Catholic Workers is to help elderly homeless with food, housing, a sense of community, and other basic needs.  Occasionally other opportunities, like hosting this prayer event, reminds us to look up and remember that we are part of a larger community that could use some prayers for peace right now. Patti and I have been volunteers at SA Catholic Workers for about 5 years and we are so appreciative for this gift of service for His glory.  You can read more about SA Catholic Worker at  https://archsa.org/catholic-worker-house-growing-from-a-feeding-ministry-to-building-affordable-housing/
